     Just had to toss this in:

     It is legal to own and operate a class III full automatic firearm in
     the US if you apply for and receive a tax stamp from the BATF.

     UNLESS.....you live in a state that has it's own laws that prohibit
     ownership of such weapons.

     So, as Jim says about the towable artillery, the State may prohibit
     what the Feds allow.
