I have received several requests to forward to the lists the responses I got concerning the trailer topic, so here they are.

Thanks again for the great info!

I will give you this based on my exp.

I have two axle trailer made specificaly to transport automobiles -- have
pulled in behind full size pick up and Suburban without a problem -- also
S10 Chev. seemed to be ok.

Went hwy speeds -- 55 to 75

As to removing suff from 151 -- if it is going to be out of your sight -
well no different than if you were driving it.

I can put a pad lock in the latch on my hitch so that you can not open it to
hook up. I also have a trailer ball without bolt -- in effect a 1 7/8 steel
ball that I put in trailer after I unhook it.

I hook mine to trailer with one chain each front and rear - hook to lifting
shackles, one load binder to tighten chain. Leave out of gear -- this is
just a personal thing I do not like to think of vehicle in gear. I have
chain tight enough to keep vehicle from moving, but not tight enough to put
a lot of tension on springs. In additon to these chains I have two others
hooked and not tight -- just in case first should happen to come loose. I
also have a block of wood nailed to trailer floor so that every time I park
151 it is where I want it -- this is determined by how much tongue weight
you want.

Be sure that evething can withstand 100 MPH wind -- your speed plus speed of
what ever you been on two lane road -- remember how it feels when you meet a
bus.???

I am sure towing vehicle has rear view mirrors on both sides.

Do not forget spare tire for trailer and something to jack it up with.

Load 151 in same position as you would be drving in -- in other words do not
back on trailer.

151 is very easy to load and trailer -- you should not have any trouble. --
I have trailerd M37 on same trailer I described above and towed with
standard size pickup -- this was a little hairyl

I am getting ready to purchase a trailer for pulling my M151A2 to shows,
etc..

Rather than re-invent the wheel I am hoping that the good people out on the
newsgroup can help me out with some advice.

I take it a two axle trailer is pretty much a given, but are there any does
or don'ts that go with this. The tow vehicle is a brand new Dodge Dakota V8
with the towing package so I do not think gross weight is an issue for the
payload. But a lot of questions come to mind..... How to keep trailer from
being stolen once at the convention or show and you have unhooked it so that
you can get around town? Best straps to use to tie it down on the trailer?
Should I strip everything off of the jeep while transporting, radio and
pedestal mount, stuff like that? Any dumb trailer tricks I should try to
not duplicate? Things I should know to keep from having a towing accident,
stuff like that. Anything on the topic would be greatly appreciated from
the group. I do plan to bring the Mutt to the Kansas City convention this
year, really looking forward to my first convention. I suppose the do's and
don'ts for that could be a separate thread all together.

Hope everyone has had a great start into the new year!
