I guess we're kinda spoiled in Ohio. We can legally register the military
number painted on the vehicle at the registration number and drive without
plate displayed. We just have to keep the historic plate stored in the
vehicle. This is all thanks to a state senator from a few years back that was
an MV collector himself.
