Yes, threads are a bit of a minefield, guaranteed to be wrong when you
need them. I stick to standard UNF / UNC wherever possible, and my
Dodges have lots of nut / bolt / head / thread lenghts that just aren't
available any more, so I spend a lot longer dismantling that I used to so
that I save as many as possible.
