I<< There is currently one on eBay complete with handle............. >>
The heavy-duty M151A2-jack (p/no.11640496) (scissors type) is NSN
5120-00-176-3460 with folding handle (p/no.11640495) (5120-00-176-3459).
However, an expedient was also recommended for Mutt use, this was Jack,
Screw, c/w handle,(p/no.11663064), NSN 5120-01-050-5976 (non-folding handle
came separately under p/no.11660568, NSN 5340-01-055-4386). According to the
military, this screw jack was "safer" (didn't they say that about the
M151A1??).
The early Mutt came issued with a screw jack like those for the wartime jeep.
It was titled "Jack, Double-Screw, Hand-Ratcheting, 2-ton capacity).... NSN
2120-729-5779 (p/no.7700157), with the handle, which was also the wheel-nut
(lug nut???) wrench separate under NSN 5120-811-4114 (p/no.8754458). Somewhat
bizarrely, there was a Modification Work Order issued for alterations to this
combined handle/wheel wrench !!!!
At least one other jack was listed as an Option...."Jack, Double-Screw, Hand,
Rotating,... FSN 5120-708-3365 (p/no. 7083365)" along with handle, folding,
NSN 5120-708-3364 (p/no. 7083364). Although forbidden to be added to the
Mutt's Basic Issue Items list (BII), it was a good idea to include a plywood
square for placing under the jack to prevent it sinking in soft terrain.
Hope this has cured your insomnia.....
Ken
