If you compare the WW2 European MVs (Laffly, Kübelwagen) with their US
counterparts (Dodge, Jeep), you'll notice immediately that the European
models are techologically years ahaed of their US equivalents; the all have
independent suspensions, OHV engines, are much more comfortable to ride, etc.

The down-side was a higher price, more difficult maintenance, and they more
fragile at the hands of the rude soldiery.

But even those recognized the fact of the superiority of the European
models,, and in post surrender Germany, in 1945-1946, the going rate of
exchange was 1 Kübel for 2 jeeps...
