While the below might be true for the pickup variants of the CUCV-14 bolt full float
rear and Dana 60 front, the M1009 is standard 10 bolt GM axles front and rear.
Rumor has it that the frames are special heavier duty versions, but this is based on
one article in a trucking magazine when the CUCV's were still in a pre-delivery
design phase. The 3/4 vs. 1/2 ton question is kind of an interesting one, according
to the military manuals, the M1009 has a payload of 1200 lbs., so maybe since it a
little over 1/2 a ton, they decided to call it 3/4 ton.
