Hi List,
Question part - We began looking at the M43 (1953 M37 Ambulance) now
that the snow is gone. It looks like someone started to try and make it 12V
so we aren't sure of the plugs and wires on the engine. They look civvy to
us but may be acceptable for the 24V. Does anybody know the crossover number
for a regular Champion plug (installed I think) or any manufacturers for the
24V system? Would regular spark plug wires be OK? Barring usefulness does
anybody have a used spare set they want to part with reasonably priced?
Consideration part - We're trying to figure out what to do, what to
work on, etc. etc. like everybody else it seems. There is only so much time
and resources to go around and things that are going to suck both dry before
we ever get to do more than tinker with this ambulance. Then there's the
fact that many of the old folks in his neighborhood are selling out to new
people who seem to be concerned with town beautification and he has way too
much stuff in the barnyard. Being fire dept red and white the M43 kind of
sticks out a bit (that's a sarcastic understatement in this case). We hate
to give up, even before getting started, but it does kind of make sense to
send this to a loving HMV home where it will actually get restored sometime
this millenium. Is there anybody that may be interested in an M43 located in
Connecticut, USA? I don't know the price (won't be real bad but there is
some $ invested) and will have pics scanned ASAP. It's not a parts truck by
any stretch and deserves a good restoration. Just trying to gauge interest
as we make up our minds because if someone is truly interested it will
affect our decisions.

Best Regards,
Dennis O'Connor

Jeeps & Dodges & friends, OH MY! Whatever will we do Toto?
