All:
I am not a lawyer, but it seems to me that if you are given a SF 97 by the
gov't, and register the vehicle under the state code; then AM General has no
legal basis for sending out that letter. While AM General can send out all
the letters they want, as a private company, the letters should not binding
on a state DMV who must follow state code in regards to vehicle registration.
If your state revoked your registration on the basis of that letter, then
I'd see a lawyer for an expert opinion/advice.
