Seems to me the position is quite simple:

-Vehicles manufactures after a given date must be fitted with this, that
and the other to be street legal.

-The vehicles in question were manufactured AFTER the cut-off date, and are
NOT fitted with the necessary whatsits.

So

- They cannot be licenced for road use without modifications.

AMG's action in writing tothe licencing authorities may be seen as
underhanded, but the fact remains these vehicles do not comply with legal
requirements given their year of manufacture.

Buying AMG stock wont change this.

Lobbying your legislator will have little effect, apart from having you
branded as a kook who does not care for road-safety regulations.

Only solution seems to move to a freer country ;-)
