Stephen & list,
Sounds like an M20. USAF used many of them at SAC installations. Missing engine,
a Hercules JXD, can be found. Basically, it is also the same engine as used in
the White Scout Car and the Studebaker US6 2-1/2 ton trucks. Major change would
be the manifold and accessories (especially the fan drive assembly). The
transmission would be more of a problem to find. The transmission is a Warner
Gear T95 which, if memory serves, was only used in the M8 & M20 vehicles. Is the
transfer case there? Again, a Warner Gear unit, a T-5, used only in the M8 & M20
vehicles. Radiator? Again, unique to the M8 & M20. A lot of the engine
compartment "stuff" is difficult to find.
Claude.
