From the list I see someone is posting that a cargo carrier 1 1/2 ton
tracked is for sale with an M series number, those of us in the real world
call it a BV 206 made by Hagglunds. It is a great piece of kit and is
undervalue probably in the sunny US lower states. They are made from a GRP
cab and both units drive. The in line six from Mercedes is a quite reliable
powerplant. These machines float very well and propel themselves by the
tracks, they are great over snow which is their real territory.
We see used ones listed in the Calgary Alberta area here in Canada for about
70K USED, which by your dollar is probably about a buck
thirty.................total.
Parts are readily available. If anyone REALLY needs more info you could
whine to me directly and I might go dig out the manufactureers specs..
There are many options for the trailer part, whcih could be bought as a drop
side trailer instead or with a demountable pod to name a few. In military
service in Canada they are fitted with a fabric cab to the front part with a
removeable frame which is used for the TOW units, the TOW being on the
trailer I think if I remember. Im sure the GHOST will correct me if Im
wrong.
There are worldwide going to be some of these coming up for sale in the UK
in a while when the Royal Marines upgrade theirs to the armoured ones in the
near future.
Talking of armour leads me to another ramble, apparently the VCanadian
M113's fitted with the TUA ( TOW UNDER ARMOUR) are being ripped out and
slapped onto a LAV platform, which should look interesting, 'cos ours is
different too the 'Merican ( thats how you get M series numbers..... very
drole I know) hammerhead TOW mount.
Anyway hope that enlightens youze guys
Rgds
Robin
