The fluid is either brake fluid or gear oil. Most likely gear oil and you
can tell by the smell. Generally these blood trails are an indication of an
inner axle seal leak and as this stuff has to pass though the brake drums to
get to the outside, whatever the fluid is, it is also on your brake linings.
If you do some heavy or extended braking ( coming off a long hill or grade )
oil/grease contamination can make it easier to catch fire. ( and because of
the backing plates, this is a real bitch to put out ) YOU DO HAVE A GOOD
FIRE EXTINUISHER IN THE CAB, DON'T YOU !!!????
Additionally, your are diluting your grease pack in the wheel bearings and
at 25k, you kind'a want tham bar'ing thangs ta have all that thar lube
stuff they kin get!
Happy Motoring
Randy
