Short memory? Why not at all !! I included in the posting:

"......We're going to check out that fork oil that Alan Wise posted about
and see if that will do the job....."

In fact, I put it in my "Ferret" file. You posted:

".........OMD-13 hydraulic fluid (Fluid Coupling)= Silkolene 779 hyrdraulic oil=
Silkolene PRO-RSF 2.5 wt. Suspension Fluid, SOLD IN THE US and motorcycle
shops which handle Silkolene oil products. Try the dirt bike-oriented shops
first.
This info is from a Silkolene Tech........"

Thing is........you have quoted this as coming from a "Silkolene Tech" and although we have no reason to doubt him, we have been advised by several oil company "Techs" to use many different types of oils that we know will not serve as a direct replacement/substitution for the OM-13 that is used in the Steering/Braking systems in our Saladins. In fact, use of some of these fluids they stated would replace OM-13 would have destroyed the seals in short order. Now if the fluid one uses in a Ferret for the coupling is not correct it won't move off........With a Saladin we could lose braking and control......

Now, for any of you who do not know Alan, let me say that he is very knowledgeable and I am not doubting him at all. I'm just one of those people who, even though everyone says that paint on the bench is wet, I just have to touch it to be sure.......

We have not had the time as of late to contact Silkolene and get the Characteristics of 779 oil.

Perhaps if Alan already has the specifications and can post them we can skip all that and get over to the local motorcycle shop and put in an order.

Just for the few interested parties to whom this info is meaningful, here is the Specs. right from the M.O.D.
