M35 suspension

I have a quick question about the rear suspension on a M35A2. There is
a shackle for the rear suspension on each side in-between the duals that
serves as a bracket for the large u bolts that hold the springs. This
bracket was filled with dirt and mud when I got the truck and now if
fills with water. It shows some surface rust and I need a way to make
it drain or fill it. Any suggestions??

I email the guy from Pittsburgh that was looking for M35 for his
wedding but got no response. Maybe second thoughts from the in-laws!!
