Yes, the GP motor was for the 1941 1/4 ton truck.

That was a typo on my part and should have read NAA.

The basic 9N motor was the basis for the motor in the GP as well as
the 0N, 1NC, 2NC as well. The GP motor was a 9N with a fuel pump, higher
compression head, pistons, "hotter" cam which gave it more horsepower. The
9N family of motors are functionally interchangeable and I have seen
tractors with GP motors in them and vise versa for the GP. Of course this
was not a factory installation.

The M-151 motor was indeed designed first. The motor was
designed for the Truck, Utility, 1/4 ton T-122 in accordance with OCM 33521
of January 4, 1951, under contract No. DA-20-018-ORD-11283. The motor is
shown with full details photos and specifications in the Ford Motor Company
Design Study for the Ordnance Corps dated January, 1952.
The tractor motor was developed along with the jeep motor and the
Tractor Division produced many of the Ford MUTT's. There was even an
attempt by the Tractor Division to market the M-151 to farmers as a
"Specialized Farm Vehicle". This was not possible as the dies and tooling
were Government owned.
