Roofed-in Halftrack

Hello all,

The URL immediately following this missive will show photos of a White Halftrack
in Canadian military service during WW2. The first pic is from NW Europe, circa
late 1944, while the other three are ostensibly from the selfsame vehicle,
western Canada, circa 1998 (we are trying to confirm the identity, ownership and
service of the latter).

My question to you halftrack experts is, was this a local [end user] conversion,
or simply a limited standard from the factory or a post-production shop? Did the
Americans use this type of conversion as well? Was this conversion limited to
Whites, or applied to Internationals too?

Any information you can supply is very welcome, thank you!
