We use a similar make-shift Anti-theft system in the Marine Corps on our
HMMWV's. It is a simple setup of two combination locks on a rifle cable (a
6-gage wire with clear insulation with metallic loops on each end for
securing your M16A-2 to you bunk). the cable is run through a hole under
the dash board, with one lock behind the firewall, and the other inside the
cab. To lock, simply unlock, and re-lock around the steering wheel. A
simple method to prevent the mischief from driving away with your ride (as
nice as it is not having keys for the ignition, it has its rapid downfalls).
This security is easily circumvented with a medium set of bolt cutters.
