I'd like to be able to make a gizmo that I can connect to a HMMWV's
STE/ICE connector to measure the engine RPM using the sensor installed
at the back of the engine block. A quick experiment showed that the
sensor appears to contain a reed switch which opens and closes two
times per rotation of the sensor's shaft, but I don't know how the
sensor's connection to the crankshaft is geared.
Does anybody know how many times the switch opens and closes per
engine revolution?
Thanks in advance!
