Sherwin Williams paint for MV's? lol

I'm looking at my SUMB (ahem...it's for sale) and finding where the paint has
curled in a couple of spots or a few rust bubbles here and there on the
bed...so I'm thinking can't have this, time for a little scrape and paint!

Now where does one get the three colors of French Army paint?

Answer... uh, house paint?

First, I make no claim to be a paint expert, I've painted maybe 15-20 cars in
my lifetime and I can shoot the stuff and I know the basics, but that is it.
Now with that being said, I am of the opinion flat oil base house paint
should be adequate for the sort of semi-crude paint work you expect to find
on a mil-veh. Apologies for the semi-crude paint work remark. I know some
of you spend as much time and trouble painting your rig as some do finishing
off a custom flame painted roadster... but I'm not talking that kind of paint
job. This is just a reasonably quick, decent looking military kind of paint
job. It ain't perfect, but it's not bad.

Anyway... back at the paint store, they often have a color matching computer,
or if you leave a nickle sized paint chip a good store can eye match the
color in a couple of hours.

The SUMB has about 5-6 coats from various color eras on it already, which is
fine by me for rust proofing. So the old paint stays on as long as it's
tight. Any repaired bare spots will be cleaned and preped with a good grade
rust proofing primer sealer before the house paint goes on.

I heard somebody say they used acrylic water base paint before, but I would
not advise it as it won't sand to a feather edge... least not the stuff I've
used on houses. The thing to remember is, you need a good water proof paint
underneath...that being the case, then you got it made. Cheap too! lol
Any comments? I know this was discussed a few months back, sorry if I'm
being repititious now.
