Tried to finish up my brake job (and a whole lot more!) today. The
procedure in the manual tells you to adjust the bottom cam pins until you
get 0.010 gap at the lower end of the shoe, then adjust the upper pin till
you get 0.020 near the top of the shoe, then continue turning in the top pin
until it starts to drag, etc...
Has anyone done this per the book??? I have NOS shoes and the drums
measured within spec but I could not get even close to the 0.010 on the
bottom no matter how the cam pin was adjusted (I went around 360 degrees
with it), it' more like 0.030 to 0.040 best case. The top of course is no
problem, plenty of adjusting room there. I set the bottom for the closest I
could get then did the top till it started to drag, per the book. I guess
that will have to do. Anyone have any experiance with this?
All I need to do now is hook up the hoses and do a flush job on the brakes
and I'm goin for a drive!
Later,
je
