I am in the process of putting my 1945 MB jeep back together. Unusual as it
may seem for me, I am not left with extra parts; instead, I have extra
holes. I did not realize until now, but I have extra holes in the dash,
between the gage cluster and the glove box.
There are 7 holes about 1/2 inch in diameter, and then 10 smaller holes that
will fit about a 10-32 bolt or small sheet metal screw. These smaller holes
look like they may have been intended to hold some decals or data plates,
while the larger ones look like they might take a switch. I also have one
more (approximately 1/2 inch diameter) directly below the speedometer.
Finally, just on either side of the Instrument Panel Light Switch, I have
two more of these small holes. None of the photos I have of other jeeps seem
to have these holes.
They all look original (at least as original as any hole can look). Anyone
know what these are for?
I also need to know where the tube for the oil pressure gage goes to on the
engine, and a source for this item.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Herb
