I Don't Know When To Give Up

Brothers, I think I found "US" on the driver's side door last night.
Only visible in strong
light from a good flashlight. The letters are
more or less centered beneath the 8" diameter
circular insignia (ground-off). The letters are
about 2" high and a bit apart. There appears to be letters or symbols
in between the U and S.
The "paint record" I've been checking over has
two distinct shades of OD Green. Could it be,
as Mr. Gilmore said, that the early OD had some gloss (from the Army)
and that's why the
two don't match? BTW, I've never really mentioned it before, but this
vehicle never saw
many road miles. I'm an old truck nut from way
back and these kingpins, shackles, bushings,
etc. all appear to be in way-above-average
shape. Thanks, Don Kenyon
