Actually, that reminds me. We had one toss its cookies at work when I
was driving back from "Millennium". Godawful noise accompanied by
some binding and that marvellous overwrought hypoid smell. I didn't
do much by way of investigation, electing instead to tag and bag it, and
swap it out for a spare.
Fifth certainly takes a beating. I think I'll be doing a transmission on
our 816 soon. Still drives along without complaint on the freeway, but
there's
a pronounced whine in top gear only which drills right on through your
ear-defenders and straight into your skull.
Anyone found a non-labour-intensive solution for that one?
