Hi all,
I got the M38 stuff today. The engine number which is
stamped on the flat spot at the front of the block before
the head is as follows:
A "42" with a circle around it, then the numbers 753311,
possibly 758811, 3's and 8's look alike when stamped weakly.
There are stampings above this number which are hardly
discernable: above the 7 is a 1, above the 5 looks like a 2,
then a space? then a ?, VL ... like I said, real weak.
Could this be a WWII engine out of an MB? Or is it just
civilian?
Other stuff I got:
Front axle, complete, has locking hubs
Rear axle, complete
Radiator (not in good shape though)
Engine, with carb, air cleaner, dist (12v), fuel pump
(civvy), oil filter (not cuno) & starter (12v) and
bellhousing
Transmission
Exhaust
Springs (4)
Front driveshaft (but not rear)
All for $350. Ouch. I really shouldn't have, but wanted to
rescue this stuff.
Lisa
