A co-worker left a newspaper article on my locker while I was on my days
off. It refers to a chap in Las Vegas, NV. who owns a Saracen and a Ferret.
He parks them in the driveway of his house. A neighbor apparently took
offense to them and reported him to the county code enforcement officer. The
article goes on to explain the Metro Las Vegas (a combination of city and
county) has an ordinance prohibiting "non passenger carrying" vehicles from
being parked in view in one's own driveway. After much haranguing, it was
decided that he could park them in his driveway as long as they were kept
covered at all times while not in use. The kicker is that there is no law
against parking them in plain view on the street. Only in your own driveway.
This has to go down as one of the stupidest things I've ever heard and I've
been in law enforcement 20 years. According to the article the city council,
board of supervisors or whatever they are called, asked this code
enforcement guy to take back the ticket and HE REFUSED! Sounds like "The
Terminator Meets The Meter Maid" to me.
If this catches on my wife will be happy because I won't be able to fill my
driveway with OD green anymore.
