Gav....

this is the proverbial "piece of p**s "...... it is so easy, but it must be
done right.

1. Jack the front end up so that the wheels are OFF THE GROUND;
2. slacken the locknut on the steering box adjuster and turn the centre screw
inwards (clockwise):
3. Get someone to turn the steering wheel from side-to-side as you adjust:
4. When the centre screw stops turning, MAKE CERTAIN that the steering wheel
will still turn from lock-to-lock without binding:

The steering worm/peg tends to wear in the "straight ahead" position and if
you tighten up the screw with the wheels "straight ahead"... the likelihood
is that the steering will bind when the wheels turn.

5. Hold the centre screw still and lock the locknut. That's it.

Some play is permissible, but anything excessive requires a repair kit and/or
replacement box.
