The true concern over the original offensive sections of the bill, is that
they could very easily be put back into place by later committee
negotiations, etc. That's the way it seems to work around here in the
states. You offer a version of a proposed bill with everything tacked on to
it, take the complaints from the loudest, clip something here and there to
satisfy those, review, add back the few pieces of real juicy stuff that you
want to slip by unnoticed, and sing praises to yourself about how flexible
you are.
We just have to stay observant, and outspoken long enough to make sure that
the bill goes through without the references to the entire SME list. That's
all. I wouldn't call it hysteria, just good common sense, with maybe a
touch of hobbyist protectionism
