160th?/40th?

Thanks to help by listers RoughDoc, LeeNCalif,
and others, I found the website for the 160th
National Guard in Los Alamitos, CA. Within
seconds of going on, I saw what I think is the
insignia for the 40th--an upside-down semi-circular red banner. Next to
the "Walking
California Bear/ angel wings/ fleur-de-lis"
insignia which I've been told is for the 160th,
there is an upside-down semi-circular banner
that STILL has red paint on it. Is this just chance or have I REALLY
FINALLY DISCOVERED WHO USED THIS VEHICLE?
That would be the 160th CNG, part of the 40th
based in Los Angeles.
One more thing that's off-the-wall. Months ago
I told Mike that "the mad grinder" had removed
something huge on the left rear door that resembled a continent. This
image sent me scurrying for a NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC MAGAZINE to see if the
image was Africa or
South America. My thinking being this panel
had something to do with exploration ala Commander Gatti and his fleet
of IHC trucks.
Well, this ground-off image, which is close to
18" tall, closely resembles HALF of the "Angel
Wings" shown on the pass. door insignia. Could this unit have painted a
huge set of wings
on the rear door? Doesn't match my idea of
plain, drab, unadorned WWII trucks (which I love)!!! Can anyone tell me
stories of similar
vehicles ( I've certainly seen my share of AV "nose art"). As always,
thanks for the wonderful
support. Don Kenyon
