Recently moved into a house in the mountains of Colorado, just West of Denver.
House has just enough land to take the weasels(M29C tracked amphibous
personnel carriers)
out and play a little bit with them.
Yesterday, I decided that a cross-fence across the property had to go. So, I
drove one of the weasels out of the barn and headed for it. Drove straight
over the fence, no problem. (Fence is a 3 wire fence (no barbs) with metal
poles
about every 8 feet. Weasel broke one of them off in the ground and never
slowed
down. Then, I decided to pull them out of the ground with a chain one at a
time
so I didn't leave a bunch of jagged metal in the ground. Hooked chain to
metal
pole and then to the pintle hook on the weasel. Eased it forward...pole bent,
twisted, and came out of the ground. This is easy. Started hooking them up
without even getting in the weasel. Hook up a pole. Push in clutch with a
stick.
First gear...low range...clutch out...stand back and watch weasel rip out
fence
post. Did this for about 10 posts. Then, some people showed up, so I stopped
tearing down the fence. Pretty soon, it got dark. No time to finish this
today. Decided to
put weasel back in the barn. Turn on spotlight. Back up weasel. What's that
noise?
Stop. Get out. Wire wrapped in the tracks good enough that I decided to wait
until daylight to try to straighten out the mess.
Happy weaseling!
