How can I tell if a GMC engine is a 302 from an M135/M211?

I have come across a 1952 XM211 that's for sale that has had the
auto tranny replaced with a manual 5 speed. The current owner
decided it's too big for him but does not know what vehicle the
manual trans. came from as he bought it in it's current condition.
The modification was done by the owner before him. Best guess is
that the tranny came from a CCKW. I plan on buying the truck for
the engine and cab to use on my XM220 but I want to make sure
the engine is not a CCKW engine that came with the transmission.
Is there a well to visually tell what version the engine is?
