>O.K. now what's right and what's wrong? Did a civilian diesel 6.2 have the
>firewall resistor voltage drop assembly?
Nope.
>If it didn't, how would the
>civilian glow plugs get 6 volts?
They got 12 volts. The plugs were cycled on/off.
Some of the earlier 5.7 (OLDS gas/diesel) conversions used 12 Volt (book
says 11 volt)
plugs but they later went to the 6 volt type with the cycling.
This was done to facilitate quicker startups especially in colder climates
when
the battery voltage would be low as well.
>glow plugs are still in the truck they would be 12V would they not?
They are. Though again, my AC/Delco book specs them at 11 Volts.
Delco says AC-13G for the CUCV and AC-15G for the HMMV.
On these GM 6.2/6.5 applications:
Basically, 12 Volt electrics > 6 Volt plugs
24 Volt electrics > 12 Volt plug
And boy, that controller had better work right.
$.005 worth.
