Hi list & Eric
Nigel was almost right. Some of my reenactment group went to Hawaii to work
on the movie and the low-down is, the movie has had some drastic budget cuts
which have resulted in downsizing (including members of my group who got
scked shortly after they arrived in Hawaii....but no matter, they got to
visit Pearl Harbor and other locations that they would have never seen
otherwise.) The movie (according to the guys) is your standard John Woo
action film......so much accuracy and realism will be sacked as well in
favor of the action part. Storyboards formerly portraying epic style vistas
with thousands of extras have been changed to much tighter closup stuff
thereby eliminating the need for a lot of eye-candy in the background.
Nevertheless, there will be some armor and other vehicles milling about in
this movie unless it gets left on the cutting room floor.
As a point of interest (to me at least) I sold a replica bazooka (that I
made right here at the Last Chance Garage in Boerne, Texas) to the
production company for this movie. Property managers told me it will be one
of the "hero weapons" in a scene where a bunker is knocked out. I will be
looking forward to seeing if it makes the final cut.
