I roughly know when each company produced the trucks, but nothing definate.
I left a message Friday at my local DRMO saying I plan to call Michigan. I

Richard Burrell sent me 2 Emails that do a fine job of giving me the info to
ID my truck.
I have no reason to doubt the info, is seems to match other sources.

Reo built the first ones in 1952. M35's only
Studebaker built them from 1953 to 1964 approx. M35's & M35A1's
Curtis-wright built also in that era, i never found out when exactly
Kaiser built them from 1964 to 1970. M35A1's & M35A2's
A.M. General built them from the fall of 1970 to the end
a interesting note Reo was bought by Studebaker which was bought by
Kaiser which was bought by A.M.C. which A.M.General was a division of.
when A.M.C. went under A.M. General split off and became its own company
so the production date of the axle housings will tell you who made it
mind you this will be an educated guess for 1970 but if the axles are
dated 1971 or newer it an A.M. General if they are date between 1965 and
1969 its a Kaiser
i think this will be as close as you can come. if it a 1970 find a month
date some where
to determine manufacturer try the circuit breaker it should have a date
unless its been replaced of course

i had the same problem with mine, had unkwn in the manufacturer and the
year boxes !
when i went to the DMV they wanted to inspect it well for a year i
looked for the production dates on the axle housings they were stamped
8/71 so the inspector agreed
that it had to be a 1971.
as for the manufacturer when A.M. General
started building them they changed the way the headlights were mounted
the panel the H/L buckets are mounted in were welded not bolted like all
past models plus there is no hole/screen for a horn on theirs,
so so due
prod date and these production changes it had to be a A.M. General so i
stamped the data plate myself. the only problem is the DMV does not list
A.M. General as a manufacturer in 1971. but they pushed it through
anyway so mine is legally a 1971 A.M. General M35A2 truck type:other
A2 production started in late 1966 or 1967 and ended 1976
if your is an earlier model its most likely a Kaiser
