List,
I just got off the phone with Rikk Rogers, and what an enlightening
conversation I had with him. As you know, I'm having serious problems
with DRMO in getting a bunch of Form 97's corrected to include date
of manufacture on a lot of trucks I recently purchased. The info in the
date block is "UNKN," meaning they do not have proof of the year
of manufacture. Now, I, along with many other DRMO customers
are faced with a serious problem. Here in NJ, a Form 97 without the
date of manufacture prohibits my getting titles. Nothing I say to the
lady in charge at DRMO changes anything. She's not going out on a
limb for anybody, even though what I'm asking her to do is not illegal.
I sent info showing that the date is in the government's hood number,
but to no avail. There's only one recourse: NAIL MICHIGAN DRMO.
Please, and I mean please, follow Rikk Roger's request, and now mine,
call DRMO Michigan tomorrow. Flood their phone lines, make your voice
heard. but please do not be offensive. Just try to get the point across
that we DRMO buyers are an important source of income to the
government, but we cannot continue to purchase the trucks if we
can't title them. I'm including Rikk's original posting, my apologies
to Arthur in using List space, but some of you might not have seen
the original posting:

I have now talked to several people that have had the same problems,
and several more that agree that something needs to be done.
On M35s, l seems as we look at that due the inability of the DRMO
to be sure of what they are selling, they have issued SF97 titles that are
useless in some or most states.
In talking to the people on the ground they want to help but are not willing
to put their head in any regulatory nose, and just "Make The Call."
The problem is bureaucratic, Info in the SF 97 boxes need to match the
boxes in the state title.
My solution will be to get someone in DRMO high enough to dodge trouble
to "Make The Call" and set a policy that helps us all.
My target will be Tuesday, when I am at DRMO Reily.
I have talked to DRMO Battlecreek, a higher-up agrees that it is
"a marketing problem" and should have a simple solution.
He has already today sent Email to start to help solve this.
Tuesday AM if you can I need you (as many as can) to call DRMO
Battlecreek at 616-961-7350 and let them know this IS a problem,
we should be able to get it fixed.
The sale was 31-0339, Item 0068, 2-1/2 ton cargo truck.
The people to talk to are (forgive spelling errors)
Becky Bolinger ext.7079
George Nast??? ext.7534
Tom Legrey ext.7284
I talked to Barry Chapman at I think 7474.
My solution is simple, Create information based on what we know,
1. AM General Bought the companies that made the M35A2's.
2. The M35A2 was mfg from a date to a date.
Call em all AM General or AM General / Whatever.
List Mfg date as From ??Mfg date to ??End Mfg date. (e.g. 03/65 to 09/84).
This will give the state something to put in the blanks.
I will be out tonight and back late Saturday, I will be looking for your
comments.
Please pass this on to the folks you think can help!
