Well I may have goofed! Jim Gilmore does make a good point here. All
spaces need to be filled out and "UNK" MIGHT be a good fill in. (I don't
know that when I wrote the posting that I was thinking of leaving it
blank-it was late!) It is true spaces must be filled in to prevent forgery.
However; when this wrong indention inhibits the title process esp. in a
police state ie; NJ or other such, then a conference should take place
between you, DRMO and DMV. After all, it IS a LEGAL document to "OBTAIN
TITLE TO A MOTOR VEHICLE" AND THAT'S WHAT IT'S FOR! If you can't use it for
its' intended purpose without a bag of grief, then somebody goofed and I
stick by that. This "deal" that leaves you out in a Catch 22 position
between YOU, DMV and DRMO is NOT RIGHT and I'll DEFEND that point to the
end! You, being the buyer probably already know about what year it is
anyway and you should give this input to satisfy all parties involved. Rick
Welker also makes a good point here-about living in a "good" state where
people like people and try to help them in their hobby. There are many and
MOST are helpful-except you know where! I've also been called by our local
police dept to help identify a year or model of and old "jeep" from someone
who knows me and my hobby but this is unusual.

Some years back I went up to the police dept to pay a parking fine. I
encountered a very crabby/snotty clerk. Bear in mind I was going to pay it
and with all her rudeness I finally told her off. Don't be intimidated by
these people! I asked her to cite me to court-more rudeness followed about
how I would surely lose. I set her straight again! 3 days later in court
(Guess who's case came up first in a court of about 300 people?!) five meter
maids and the crabby clerk (6 total) testified AGAINST me! Guess what? I
won the case! She looked at me in front of the judge and said "You can go
now!". I'm sure I made her day! What irritates the crap out of me is when
they call me wrong and I know I'm at least 3/4 RIGHT!
