I have dealt successfully for 20 years or more with DRMO's and have had
corrected SF97's issued easily by the local staffers with no serious or
everlasting problems. Most are willing to listen to a good story and make
the changes necessary to get the job done. Typically they will
type"corrected copy" on the top which has the effect of negating the
originally issued document. The more waves you make, the harder it will
be to get the job done. In just a few months when the Commercial Venture
Phase II is implemented, you will have to deal with the likes of a Levy
Latham to get a truck. Ah yes, the 10% buyer's premium and the intense
dislike of the CV read VC by the DRMO Personnel who are losing their jobs.
You have to remember that thousands of types of property are passing thru the
DRMOs and trucks are just a small part ot that. Nobody can be an expert on
all of them.. When you buy the truck, talk to the DRMO staff and request
the SF97 be prepared with data you provide and show them copies of
inspection reports you find in the Glove Box, or a picture of the frame SN or
the turn-in document from the original using agency. The turn in document
usually is WXXXXX (Agency) 9199 (Julian Date) 0002 (item). Using the
Wxxxxx you can find out who used the vehicle and ask them for further info.
Usually a supply sgt or a warrant officer... Before you harass the DRMO,
do your homework... RAM MVPA #217
