Well....
I think Mark nailed the over-rev problem, as I was draining the filters
again I looked over the injector pump again
and still it looks ok, but then I had no manual yet to compare it to, and
after all I have known what an injector
pump looks like for all of a week, so I go on to just do what I know (get
rid of the gas, get new diesel).
As I am working I find, on the oil filter of all places, a large sticker
saying something like
"Fuel density compensator has been bypassed".
Now I might have seen this had I been changing the oil, but with it 3/4
turned away it never occurred to
look close at the thing.
Seems the last guy to service the filters did not bother to front the
instructions.
Tomorrow we try again with fresh fuel.
I think she will run.
