Will I be really sorry if...

I'm fixing up my M37 (can't really say "restoring" because I'm not putting
it in "as new" condition) and need to have it looking decent by November
11th. when my wife is having a WWII/USO party. I have checked and to have
it professionally painted the right way is going to run me serious bucks
(we're talking close to $1,000).

I can understand a high price because it looks like there is a lot of work
involved w/masking and angles, etc.

So here is the question: I have a compressor and can rent a professional
spray gun but I don't have a spray booth, just my driveway; should I try to
do it myself?

I'm not asking for or expecting a professional job and if/when I want a
great job down the line, I can have it professionally redone but right now,
I can't justify the cost.

Thoughts appreciated, especially from anyone who has done/tried this stunt.
