Dear Listers.........
I refrained from commenting first time around,on the statement above, in the
(vain) hope that someone else might have produced information which would
correspond with the details in the Muttguru Archives. In the absence of any,
it now seems to be an appropriate moment to contribute my two pennuth.
AM General did, indeed, produce Mutts in 1984, and although I don't have
details of the FMS (Foreign Military Sales) contracts, I can state
categorically that a contract was agreed between US Army Tank-Automotive
Command (TACOM) and AMG. The contract was DAAE07-84-C-J076 and was for 10
M718A1 Front-Line Ambulances and 81 M151A2s. Small batches of vehicles were
also produced for TACOM in years 1982 and 1983. I have a dataplate from an
M151A2 built under contract DAAE07-79-D-5016, delivery took place sometime in
1982. A further small batch was built and delivered to Warner-Robbins Air
Logistics Center (WRALC) at Robbins AFB, GA, but my attempt to get
information about the use and deployment of the WRALC mutts was stonewalled
by the Military. Those of you who know of W-R probably have a good idea of
how the vehicles were used !!! (I would really appreciate any hard info about
the WRALC-mutts).
I hope this helps, but as always, I look forward to my fellow Mutt fans
contributing.
Kind regards.....
Ken
