Now that's a darn valuable piece of information, when you consider the fact
that the Trucks were designed for "Off-road" use and are rated generally
double for highway use, this is not something the general trucking community
would know about.
Just having this info gives us the ability to minimize some rude ware and
tare to the running gear.

Subject: Re: [MV] The Deuce Hop?
My experience with my M51 5 ton dump is that when I load it up ( with 25,000
lbs of rock ) is that it tends to hop also especially when going down
smooth
level roads. I think it is due to drive train windup between the front axle
and the rear axles. The back tires having a much heavier load, tend to have
a smaller effective radius whereas the front tires have a larger radius.
Since there is no differential between the front and rear axles, I believe
that the drive train winds up and tends to release the energy by hopping.
Actually is is more like lunging forward and back rather than hopping up and
down. If it starts to happen and it gets excessive, I generally just back
off on the throttle and it eases away. If I am pulling up a hill hard or
coasting down a hill it does not happen. It really isn't a big deal after
you realize what is going on, but it was a bit surprising to see the entire
truck rocking forwards and back the first few times at 45 mph considering
that the entire rig weighs about 50,000 lbs with the load! This never
happens unless the truck is heavily loaded. If I put 10,000 lbs in the
back,
it won't occur. But then the truck will be half empty!
