In reading all the responses, it seems clear the confussion is that of the
term "Fast Attack Vehicle (FAV)". It is a term for a TYPE of vehicle not a
SPECIFIC vehicle. It was first introduced in the early 80's, and the
Chenowith(sic) vehicles were officially purchased. Since then, SOCOM units
including SEALS, SFOD(Delta), Ranger, Marine and even USAF SOF have modified
a number of M-151's, dirt bikes, and ATV's to suit their needs. The term
"FAV" is applied loosely to all. And there is a need for a real FAV. The
Chenowiths(sic) are limited in their 2x4 configuration. Even in 4x4, dune
buggy type vehicles have proven a disappointment. Just ask the Brits. After
years of trying, the SAS and 24th Airmobile Brigade sold off all of theirs.
Interestingly, the Marines have recently purchased Mercedes G-wagans and are
calling them their FAV. This might in fact be the 120mph FAV you researching.
Check it out.
