Travel may be expensive here but at least we still live in the land of the
free regarding the import and use of ex military vehicles. It's still
perfectly legal to import any armoured vehicle into the UK provided any guns
and smoke dischargers are demilled or you have the necessary licence to keep
them live. Furthermore, you can get tags for any rubber tracked armoured
vehicle and use it on the public roads so long as you have the appropriate
collectors insurance (about $150) and what we arcanely call a 'track laying
vehicle' licence.

You can put your DUKW down any suitable public slipway and use it in the sea
more or less anywhere you wish and the cops can't touch you for it. A few
years back some friends raised eyebrows in the snobby yachting set by
attending Cowes Week on the Isle of White in a DUKW.
