Depends on what time period you are talking about. If it is realted to WW2
then yes you are right. Post-War they have next to nothing. Even the Vietnam
era records are pretty much worthless if you are into looking for vehicle
info.
Here is a tip for researchers at the National Archives. Whenever there was a
traffic accident it was recored into the Military Police units desk log
complete with vehicle type, registration numbers, unit and driver involved.
Its a pain to sort through all of them but can yield some interesting stuff.

that was not destroyed as a course of standard proceedure on
microfilm.. Course now its a matter of geting someone to go do
