Spam Wars

Sigh!

After a little bit of searching regarding spam and counterspamming, it
looks like I'd best give up any dreams of striking back. I went to
http://www.smartcomputing.com did a word search for "spam", and got lots
of info from past articles in the magazine. (by the way, this is a good
source of computing info that even I can understand.)

Looks like they recommend fighting fair. I never get to have any fun.
Here's what they suggest:

Look through the header for domain names and then forward the
message—header and all—to “postmaster” and “abuse” at each
domain name. For example, if
you find the domain “earthlink.net,” forward the message to
postmaster@earthlink.net” and
“abuse @earthlink .net” informing them it was unsolicited
mail. Or for general reporting, you can
send it to the folks at Abuse.net (http://www.abuse.net).

So those of us who are receiving business related spam can sic the big
dogs on them: msn.com, email.com and aol.com. They probably will have
more success than we will. I'm up for it.

Sic semper tyrannis!
