Well that is standard Marine Corps Undercoat. Being here in AZ I have come
up with allot of USMC stuff that migrated here from California. My USMC M37
has the same stuff under it. I had a Mighty Mite with it under it (Yuck).
Most everything USMC in that time period has undercoat. Trailers, Trucks,
Jeeps, etc...
I don't think it is coming off in any way except total disassembly and a
trip to the sand blaster. Then I am sure it will take twice as long to cut
that stuff. I would leave it alone. It is correct.
