Ok people,
I had a dozen or more requests for info on inline vacuum brake booster
units. Basically Bendix is the main manufacturer. Mico also has some but
they seem to be into specialty products. I have 2 Bendix units that came
off of a motor home. I am told that they are still used on some school
busses and motor homes. My suggestion would be to go to a truck brake shop
or truck parts store that carries Bendix and look thru the book. You may
not get a very warm reception as these people are paranoid about anything
that isn't a factory installation so I wouldn't expect to get much
engineering type help. There are alot of issues here for an on road
vehicle, of course you can tell them it's for an off highway industrial
truck, that ussually works.
Just one of the things your going to have to concider, for example, is the
residual check valve located in the master cylinder (refering to old jeeps
that is). What I do not know is if that check valve could stay in there or
does it have to be after the booster unit? It would/could make a difference
from a number of aspects.
Maybe another option would be to try a speed shop, they seem to have kits
made up for lots of non-stock things, at least they seem to be more willing
to offer technical advice that the manufacturers do.
Good Luck,
je
