Ken,
In my humble opinion, despite what the SF97 says, your truck is an AM
General. I base this on the serial number. As far as the registration
number goes, it looks legit, but beware that the hood (and tailgate to a
lessor extent) are easily damaged at easily exchanged parts. If the current
marking system has the registration number on the inside of the doors and
underside of the hood. If your truck doesn't have many coats of paint you
may be able to find older markings. (if it is in 4 color camo over
semi-gloss OD, if you wet the sides of the hood, you can sometimes make out
older markings) Please note that the registration number is a permanently
assigned number, a vehicles registration number is not changed once it is
assigned, BUT if parts are mixed on a vehicle, either by replacing parts with
parts from the can yard, or through depot level rebuilds, it is possible for
this type of archeology to produce erroneous results.

Hope this helps,
David
