No, a CDL is not always required. Some states only require a CDL if it's used commercially. Plus not
all list members are in the U.S. and each country is different in regards to license requirements.
As far as which one is better all depends on how you plan to use it. If you plan on using it to haul
really heavy loads then the 5 ton might fit the bill better. If you just want to have a big truck to
drive around and show off then the M35 is the way to go. The parts are easier to come across and
usually cheaper to boot. So it all comes down to how you plan to use it and what the licensing laws
are where you live.
