'bad shape' for a jeep is relative.
If it is all complete and original and will run, that's 'good shape' to
me. It did seem that I would associate the price asked with 'excellent
shape and with Patton's signature on the dash' though.
Here in the UK I have seen ordinary GPWs and MBs advertised at all sorts
of fancy prices. I do not personally know anyone who has paid more than
£4000 (thats USD 6000 for you lot across the pond) for an ordinary jeep
in very good condition.
As a price guide I bought two GPWs, one dissassembled restored, one used
but complete and ready for restoration, for £4100 18 months ago here in
Scotland, although I'll admit I'd have trouble finding any more at that
price (the extra one is already sold - sorry)
I see basket case jeeps in the US for sale at very reasonable prices,
Steve Greenberg has a script Willys on e-bay right now, so why not just
buy that and restore it ? All these ex-Greek jeeps will have been shop
rebuilt two or three times anyway, so why not save USD 5000 and buy in the
US ?
